With reference to your memorandum No.

639 (96/70R/38) dated 23rd August, 1938,

forwarding a copy of a letter to the Japanese

Minister for Foreign Affairs regarding the attack

on the crew of the Hong Kong junk No.2012 H.D.,

I have the honour to forward herewith for

presentation to the Japanese Government, in

accordance with instructions received from the

Secretary of State for the Colonies, a statement

of claim for compensation amounting to $1,060.
